SENER Presents Design Paper at SNAME Meeting
SENER has attended the 2013 SNAME (Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers) annual meeting from November 6-8 in Bellevue, Washington.
During the event, technical sessions took place as part of the Ship Production Symposium, where engineers from the shipbuilding industry presented important innovations and advances in the state of the art for shipbuilding.
Verónica Alonso, North America Area Manager from SENER Marine Business Unit, presented the paper: The use of a 3D CAD System at early design in shipbuilding, written with Antonio Valderrama and Rodrigo Pérez, all from SENER. The subject, of great interest in the shipbuilding industry in the U.S. and in the rest of the world talks about the FORAN approach to a complex issue: the important change in the development of the functional design, from 2D to 3D.
FORAN, developed by SENER, has been enhanced with important capabilities for a successful use at early design stages. The most remarkable advantages of this approach are to avoid design errors and the re-use of data in further stages. All to achieve important cost savings in the ship design process.
