Swedish shipowner Stena Bulk unveiled a prototype of its next-generation environmentally friendly product and chemical tanker, the IMOFlexMAX, engineered to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 25% compared to typical modern product tankers.The vessel, designed by naval architects at Stena Bulk's sister company Stena Teknik, is a further development of the company's IMOIIMAX design currently in operation, but with several notable additions.
Zvezda Cuts First Steel for Sovcomflot Aframax

Russia's Zvezda shipbuilding complex has starting building a new Aframax tanker for compatriot shipowner Sovcomflot.The vessel is the sixth tanker build underway at the newly opened shipyard and is one of 12 Aframaxes in the builder's order book. The ice class ICE-1A ships are 250 meters long, 44 meters wide and are equipped with the Class A automation system, and can run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel.Currently four Aframax tankers are under construction at the shipyard.

Wärtsilä said it secured an order to supply its emissions abating volatile organic compounds (VOC) recovery system, together with an liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel gas supply system, for two new 124,000 DWT shuttle tankersordered by Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers (KNOT), built at the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine yard in Korea. The order with Wärtsilä was placed in April.With this technology, the liquefied VOC is mixed with LNG and used as fuel for the main and auxiliary engines.
