Austal Hosts Naming Ceremony for Omanâs New Naval Vessels
Austal has welcomed the Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (CRNO), Rear-Admiral (RADM) Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah Al Raisi to the companyâs Australian shipyard in Henderson, Western Australia, to officially name two 72 meter High Speed Support Vessels (HSSVs) designed and built by Austal for the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO). In a formal ceremony, RADM Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah Al Raisi named the ships RNOV AL MUBSHIR (S11) and RNOV AL NAASIR (S12).

US Navy Calls off Search for Missing Sailor
U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard assets ended the search April 12 for a missing sailor assigned to USS Carter Hall (LSD 50). The sailor was reported missing April 9 while the ship was conducting routine training operations in support of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group Composite Training Unit Exercise, approximately 60 nautical miles off the coast of Cape Hatteras, N.C. The Navy immediately initiated search and rescue operations.
SharpEye Radar for Qatari Coastguard Patrol Boats
Kelvin Hughes is to supply its SharpEye S-band radar together with its new 12kW radar for 17 patrol boats currently being built at ARES Shipyard, Turkey for Qatarâs Coast and Borders Security Department. All the electronic equipment for the vessels - which include 24m, 34.5m and 48m versions of the ARES Shipyard Hercules series - will be supplied by Elektro Deniz of Turkey which has contracted Kelvin Hughes to provide the radar systems.
