Tech File: SHI Develops onboard Carbon Capture System

SHI reports that it has successfully developed an 'Onboard Carbon Capture' system which can be applicable to LNG fueled vessels with PANASIA, an eco-friendly and energy system expert, and received Approval in Principle from KR, Korean classification society, for the first time in Korea.This approved green technology separates and collects carbon dioxide among exhaust gas of LNG, which is burned in a ship engine or generator, using an Amine based liquid absorbent.

Nakilat Takes Delivery of Another LNG Carrier

Nakilat took delivery of a newbuild LNG carrier, “Global Sealine”, which will be commercially and technically managed in-house by Nakilat Shipping Qatar Limited (NSQL). Built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea, this is the final LNG newbuild carrier to be delivered to Global Shipping Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Nakilat (60%) and Maran Ventures Inc. (Maran Ventures) (40%).

TotalEnergies and CMA CGM launched Marseilles’ inaugural ship-to-containership Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunkering operation in the Port of Marseille Fos, Southern France.CMA CGM BALI, a 15,000 TEU LNG-powered containership is deployed on the MEX 1service, connecting Asia and South Europe. The ship was refuelled by TotalEnergies’ Gas Vitality, the first LNG bunker vessel based in France, with around 6,000 cu.

Wärtsilä will supply the main and harbor engines for a series of seven new arctic shuttle tankers being built at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) yard in South Korea. The order, which is valued at more than EUR 100 million, was placed with Wärtsilä in December 2021.The 120,000 DWT vessels are Arc 7 classified and have icebreaking capability. The Wärtsilä engines are designed to operate reliably at temperatures as low as minus 45 degrees C.
China Sinopec Tenders to Sell Up to 45 LNG Cargoes for 2022

China's Sinopec Corp has issued a tender to sell up to 45 cargoes of liquefied natural gas for 2022 deliveries, in a rare sell tender of the super-chilled fuel to take advantage of high Asian spot prices, said traders who were invited to bid.Under the tender, Sinopec offered two to five cargoes each month between February and October on a delivered ex-ship basis.Prices will be linked either to Europe's Title Transfer Facility pricing or North Asian benchmark Japan Korean Marker.The tender closes

Shipping company Teekay LNG has rebranded as Seapeak following the completion of its acquisition by U.S.-based investment firm Stonepeak.One of the world’s largest independent owners and operators of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, Teekay LNG announced in October that it entered into a merger agreement that would see Stonepeak acquire all issued and outstanding common units representing limited partner units in Teekay LNG, and its common un it holders voted to approve the deal in December.
