Poland Could Build Second FSRU Amid Czech, Slovak Interest
Poland could build a second floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) next to an already planned installation because the Czech Republic and Slovakia are interested in buying more liquefied natural gas (LNG), the Polish climate minister said.Czech Republic and Slovakia are seeking alternatives to cut reliance on Russian supplies. Slovakia's state gas firm SPP struck deals to buy enough piped Norwegian gas and LNG to cover about 65% of its demand until the end of next year.
Norway's Hammerfest LNG Plant Resumes Operation After 20-month Outage
Norway’s Hammerfest liquefied natural gas plant has resumed operation as planned and is preparing to restart LNG production, a spokesperson for operator Equinor told Reuters on Friday.The plant has been offline for 20 months following a fire in September of 2020.LNG is made by cooling gas to temperatures that liquefy it, thus allowing large quantities to be transported by ship.“We have resumed operations and started cool down of the plant.

The Port of Corpus Christi reports it experienced double-digit volume growth in the first four months of 2022, establishing new records for tonnage and revenues. WinGD Debuts Compact On-engine Emissions Solution for X-DF Portfolio
Swiss marine power company WinGD has introduced an on-engine version of its iCER system, enabling the emissions reduction technology to be installed without impact on engine footprint. iCER is the first X-DF2.0 technology introduced to further boost the emissions performance and efficiency of the dual-fuel X-DF two-stroke engine series. X-DF engines running on LNG already offer a more than 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a reduction in air pollution compared to fuel oil.
Maran Gas Extends Maintenance Deal with Wärtsilä
Wärtsilä announce it has signed a renewal of its Optimized Maintenance Agreement with the Greek shipping company Maran Gas Maritime, part of Angelicoussis Shipping Group (ASGL). The new agreement will run for five additional years, and is designed to ensure operational certainty with controlled and predictable costs for Maran Gas’s fleet of 21 TFDE LNG carrier vessels. The signing took place on May 3, 2022.The Maran Gas vessels are all powered by Wärtsilä 50DF dual-fuel engines.
