US Regulator to Allow Freeport LNG to Resume Partial Operations in October

The second-largest U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter on Wednesday said it reached an agreement with a federal regulator that will allow it to resume some operations at its Quintana, Texas, plant in October.Freeport LNG shut the plant, which supplies about 20% of U.S. LNG exports, following an explosion and fire on June 8. Its closure helped to push up LNG prices in Europe and Asia, and dampening U.S.

Hawaii-based Pasha Hawaii announced on Thursday it has taken delivery of a new liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fueled containership from Brownsville, Texas shipbuilder Keppel AmFELS.The 774-foot George III is the first of two new ‘Ohana Class containerships to join Pasha Hawaii’s fleet, serving the Hawaii/Mainland trade lane. It is said to be the first LNG-powered vessel to fuel on the West Coast and the first to serve Hawaii.

Port Report: Rotterdam Throughput Stays Strong Despite Russia Decline

The volume of total cargo throughput in the port of Rotterdam was 0.8% higher in the first half of the year (233.5 million tonnes) than in the same period in 2021 (231.6 million tonnes). In many segments, the war in Ukraine led to significant changes. For example, imports of both LNG and coal rose very sharply as an alternative to reduced European imports of Russian gas by pipeline. The throughput of crude oil increased, with oil products falling off.
