Wärtsilä's two-stroke engines have been chosen for eight Chinese bulk carriers. The order was placed by Beijing-based Minsheng Financial Leasing Co. Ltd. Wärtsilä's Chinese licensee, Hefei Rong'An Power Machinery Co Ltd (Rong'An), a member of the Jiangsu Rongsheng Heavy Industries Group Co Ltd (RSHI), will build the engines. The Wärtsilä RT-flex58TB two-stroke engines will be installed in a series of eight 76,000 dwt Panamax bulk carriers.

Snøhvit LNG Traffic Returned to Full Speed

The third LNG cargo dispatched since the planned maintenance shutdown last autumn left Melkøya January 4. Production from Snøhvit resumed one week before Christmas, and the LNG vessels are back in regular operation. The plant was closed for a four month period for upgrading and maintenance. The maintenance shutdown was completed in early November, but start-up was delayed by problems affecting the facility’s large electrical motors, which form a central part of the refrigeration process.

Wärtsilä has signed a long term service agreement with Maersk LNG. The agreement includes maintenance planning, condition & performance monitoring, co-ordination and supply of technical services, parts and service work for five 165,000 cum LNG vessels equipped with Wärtsilä 50DF dual-fuel engines over a five year period. "For Maersk LNG, this service agreement means improved levels of certainty regarding servicing of the main engines on our LNG vessels.
GDF Suez Expands LNG Fleet apacity

The first shuttle and regasification vessel (SRV) co-owned by Höegh LNG and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) was completed at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, and was delivered to the GDF Suez group on November 30, 2009. It will serve on a long-term charter contract between the parties. GDF Suez Neptune is the first of two SRVs which was constructed in order to provide LNG transportation services to the Neptune LNG Deep Water Port off the coast of Gloucester, Massachusetts, U.S.
