World Wide Supply orders four Platform Supply Vessels of Damen Shipyardsâ new PSV 3300 series. Newly founded offshore support company World Wide Supply (WWS) has ordered four PSV 3300 CDâs with Damen Shipyards. The PSV 3300 CD, built according to Damenâs E3 principles, is a newly designed platform supply vessel for servicing oil and gas rigs worldwide and is specifically designed to perform safely and economically in adverse weather conditions.

More than a decade ago, deepwater oil production in the Gulf of Mexico surpassed shallow water output for the first time ever. These days, rigs are found hundreds of miles offshore. Foss Maritime, founded by the matriarch of the Foss family in 1889, is as much a cultural icon on the U.S. West Coast as McAllister or Moran are on the East Coast. Norwegian immigrant Thea Foss began the business when she bought her first row boat in Tacoma, Wash. and painted it the signature green and white. The Foss family grew the business into a launch service ferrying crew and supplies in the 1910s, then shifted into towing work in the 1940s.

Trade association Interferry says that ferry operators in northern Europe face a near-impossible choice in trying to meet the 2015 deadline for ultra-low sulphur emissions from bunker fuel. The association also warns that the low-sulphur legislation will prompt an environmentally damaging modal shift from short-sea to overland transport and pose severe financial implications for the overall European economy.

The Bit Viking is reportedly the world's first vessel in service whose main machinery has been converted to burn LNG as fuel. She is also the largest commercial vessel which is not an LNG tanker, to use LNG as fuel. After the conversion which was undertaken under the supervision of classification society Germanischer Lloyd (GL), the 25,000 dwt product tanker successfully completed sea trials. One of the biggest and most modern ship repair yards in the Middle East, Oman Drydock Company (ODC), has recently received its first LNG carrier, the Muscat LNG, owned by Oman Shipping Corporation SAOC. As part of its middle term service, Muscat LNG underwent the service operation at ODC during 11 days and was delivered within the estimated 12 days. The service operation for Muscat LNG included the mechanical cleaning of the main boilers and the fire sides.
