Aker Solutions wins three year Total E&P UK & J/V partner Dong E&P UK contract for work on Shetland, Scotland, LNG plants on & offshore. The agreement includes provision of operations, maintenance and services support personnel for Total E&P UK at the new gas plant, which will receive gas from the Laggan and Tormore fields, west of Shetland. The contract is valid for three and a half years with an optional two year extension.

Lloydâs Register significantly helped the vesselâs owners & builders work through the complexities of 'Viking Grace's' novel design features. Finlandâs Viking Line recently notched up a world first when it launched Viking Grace, the most environmentally friendly large passenger ship, at STX Finland Turku shipyard. The 56,000 gt vessel is powered by LNG and generates no marine emissions and very few air emissions.

The Port of Rotterdam and the Port of Gothenburg both located within the SECA area in northern Europe where stricter rules governing sulphur in maritime fuel are due to be introduced in 2015 aim is to have infrastructure for LNG bunkering available once the sulphur regulations come into effect. Russia is an energy superpower and the country has vast and rich natural resources. Besides gas and coal reserves (some of the largest in the world), Russia today is ranked as the worldâs biggest oil producing nation accounting for well over 12% of the global output. Island Offshore's new UT 776 CDG design vessel 'Island Contender' delivered by STX Brevik shipbuilders. The owners say that fuel consumption measurements show that it was correct to go for this configuration: two larger gas engines which can be used alone or together in all operational situations, and twin diesel engines if more power is required. With the actual prices of gas and gasoil it is a considerable saving to utilize gas, and from the environmental point of view it is also much better.
