Heidmar reported the unexpected passing of Marc La Monte of Wilton, Connecticut. Mr. La Monte passed away while on a business flight in Europe on the morning of October 14th. La Monte was a widely respected member of the international shipping industry for 27 years. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Heidmar Inc. from April 2012. Prior to becoming CEO, La Montehad been the Managing Director of Heidmarâs VLCC tanker pool, Seawolf Tankers.

New Orleans based Harvey Gulf International Marine, has announced the closing of its asset purchase of Abdon Callais Offshore, a deal worth $460 Million USD in cash, while simultaneously selling six of the older assets to Adriatic Marine for $72 Million USD. Eni presented the twelfth edition of World Oil and Gas Review, the annual statistical review of the world oil and gas market and the refining system. Oil and gas reserves continue to rise, confirming that operators are able to replace reserves put into production and to find new ones: a comparison of 1995 reserves with those of 2012 reveals an increase of almost 40%. In the past year, however, despite a 2% increase in oil reserves, those for gas remained largely flat (+0.4%).

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI), a shipbuilding affiliate of Hyundai Heavy Industries, the worldâs biggest shipbuilder, successfully launched a 162,000 m3 LNG carrier built using the on-ground shipbuilding method for the first time in the world, the shipyard claims. The vessel, designed for delivering chilled natural gas, was ordered by Golar of Norway in February, 2012. It, measures 289 x 45.6 m with a 26 m depthâŚ

While the advent of gas as power in the marine market is growing increasinly common, most every installation is actually "dual fuel", meaning the vessel is able to use LNG or traditional diesel fuel to power the boat. This weekend in Turkey, however, marked a significant turning point perhaps in the adoption of LNG as fuel in commercial marine vessels, as Rolls-Royce reports that Sanmar Shipyardâs completed a world first: a purely gas powered tug.

Planned, developed and built by Dutch Peters Shipyards, located in Kampen, a unique inland tanker is now the worldâs first river vessel driven by combustion engines consuming purely natural gas.
