Hammerfest LNG Production Resumes After Leak

Production at Hammerfest LNG Production from the Hammerfest LNG plant has been resumed after a gas leak Sunday night. "We started run-up of the Hammerfest LNG plant Tuesday night, and the plant has now reached stable operation. All necessary repairs on the plant have been completed to ensure a safe and efficient start-up," says Knut Gjertsen, head of Snøhvit operations. The Hammerfest LNG plant was shut down Sunday night due to a gas leak in the processing facility.

BC Ferries to Implement Fuel Surcharge

BC Ferries explains that due to current world fuel market conditions the company is advising customers that a fuel surcharge will be implemented on the majority of its routes on January 17, 2014. The fuel surcharge will be 3.5 per cent on average on all of its routes with the exception of the Port Hardy - Prince Rupert and Prince Rupert â Haida Gwaii routes which will not be affected. âMarket pricing indicates that the price differential will continue throughout the yearâŚ

Shell Acquires Repsol LNG Portfolio

Royal Dutch Shell plc has announced the completion of the acquisition of Repsol S.A.'s liquefied natural gas (LNG) portfolio outside North America for a headline cash consideration of $4.1 billion. As part of the transaction, Shell will also assume $1.6 billion of balance sheet liabilities relating to existing leases for LNG ship charters, substantially increasing the shipping capacity available to Shell's LNG marketing business.

Gazprom lists amongst its 2013 achievements: the first subsea gas production facility by any Russian company, and secondly, extraction of the first oil from the Russian Arctic Shelf. Russia's first subsea production facility was successfully tested in the Kirinskoye field within the Sakhalin III project. The subsea production facility makes it possible to produce gas with no platforms or other above-water facilities.

Norway-based Siem Offshore has contracted Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. in Poland to build four dual-fuelled Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs). The vessels are to be of VS 4411 DF design, and Siem Offshore say that they currently have two vessels of similar design under construction for delivery in 2014 and 2015. The new PSV's will be equipped with dual-fuel LNG or Marine Diesel Oil (MDO) systems which Siem Offshore claim to represent the latest technology of dual fuelled systems and hull designâŚ
Qatar Shipyard, Nakilat, JV's Get US$160-million Funding

Al Khalij Commercial Bank (al khaliji) QSC has provided financing for the two Nakilat shipyard joint ventures: Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) and Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) for US $120m and US $40m respectively. Nakilat is a Qatari marine transport company providing the essential transportation link in the State of Qatarâs LNG supply chain. The company says its LNG shipping fleet is the largest in the world, comprising 56 LNG vessels.
