Shell Sells Wheatstone LNG Stake in Australia

Royal Dutch Shell plc has announced it has agreed to sell its 8% equity interest in the Wheatstone-Iago Joint Venture and 6.4% interest in the 8.9 million metric tons per annum Wheatstone liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Western Australia for a cash consideration of $1.135 billion to the Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC), subject to closing. Shell Chief Executive Officer Ben van Beurden commented, âShell will remain a major player in Australiaâs energy industry.

M/T Borgøy, the worldâs first tug to be fuelled by the much more environmentally friendly liquefied natural gas (LNG), designed by Norwegian Buksèr og Berging in-house team with the assistance of Marine Design AS in Norway, further developed by Sanmarâs modern shipyard in Istanbul, completed her sea trials successfully this month and started her maiden voyage to Norway on January 14. The engines, propulsion package and LNG system were delivered by Rolls Royce.

Level and flow instrumentation suppliers Allison Engineering have enjoyed success with a specialist flow meter application for their ST110 Gas Flow Meters being used on board LNG ships to measure boil-off gas, the natural wastage gas generated in the storage tanks. GasLog to Buy Three BG Group LNG Carriers & Charter Back

GasLog Ltd. says it has agreed with Methane Services Ltd. (MSL), an affiliate of BG Group, to purchase 3 LNG carriers from MSL's fleet and to charter those ships back to MSL for 6-year initial terms. MSL also will have options to extend the term of the time charters for 2 of the ships for a period of either 3 or 5 years at its election. The ships to be acquired will be nominated by MSL from an agreed group of six sister ships built in 2006 and 2007.

Leading French ferry and holiday company, Brittany Ferries, says it has placed an order for a new cruise-ferry that will be its largest yet, and one of the biggest such vessels in the world. Multimodal transport operator Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL) has awarded an exclusive three-year contract to serve its vessels and port calls across Australia to GAC Australia, part of the global shipping, logistics and marine service provider GAC Group. The contract was signed by Mark Austin, Managing Director of Mitsui O.S.K Lines Australia (MOL), and Phil Coolican, Managing Director, GAC Australia, following a rigorous tender process.
Oman Drydock Announces Strongest Year of Trading

The Oman Drydock Company (ODC), one of the Middle Eastâs newest and biggest shipyards, is announcing its strongest year of trading. The shipyard undertook 75 drydockings and repairs in 2013 taking the total number to 190 since the yard which was opened in Duqm in Central Oman in 2011. ODC also saw staff numbers increase to more than 2,000 in 2013. The vessels ODC has worked on include Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs)âŚ

Currently, 319 oil/gas floating production units are now in service, on order or available for reuse on another field. FPSOs account for 65% of the existing systems, 75% of systems on order. Another 24 floating LNG processing systems are in service or on order. Liquefaction floaters account for 13%, regasification floaters 87%. No liquefaction units are yet in service â all 3 are on order. Also, 98 floating storage units are in service, on order or available.
Drum Cussac Protects Floating LNG Platform Journey

The FSRU Toscana, the worldâs first-ever floating Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) platform, has begun commercial operations off the coast of Italy, on schedule. However, before the 288-meter container ship, turned floating LNG storage platform, could begin operation as a regasification plant, it had to negotiate a perilous journey, being towed from Drydock World in Dubai to the Italian Coast, via the Gulf of Aden and the Suez Canal, protected by Drum Cussac security specialists.

Wärtsilä to Provide Turnkey LNG Receiving Terminal in N. Finland

Wärtsilä says it has signed a turnkey contract to supply a liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal to be built in Tornio, northern Finland. The contract, valued at approximately EUR 100 million, has been made with Manga LNG Oy, a joint venture between the Finnish companies Outokumpu Group, Ruukki Metals Oy, Gasum Oy and EPV Energy Ltd. The contract is conditional on receipt of investment support and Manga LNG Oy's contracts with other parties, including the gas suppliers.

Although the well-known Finnish company Wärtsilä has a very long history, it was founded in 1834, the diesel engine era begins when the company signs a license agreement with Friedrich Krupp Germania Werft AG in Germany. The first diesel engine sees the light of day in Turku in November 1942. From there on Wärtsilä passed a number of rapid expansions in all fields of products. Some of the products stayed and some disappeared.
