The new Wärtsilä LNGPac, the upgraded version of the company's successful LNG fuel handling system, has been granted an AIP (Approval in Principle) Certificate from the classification society DNV GL. The certificate was presented at Wärtsilä’s stand at the SMM conference and exhibition in Hamburg, Germany today, September 9. The AIP Certificate covers Wärtsilä's improvements to the original LNGPac.
Bureau Veritas to Class First LNG Bunker Barge

International classification society Bureau Veritas has been chosen to class the unique LNG bunkering vessel which will be built at Hanjin Heavy Industries, Korea, under an agreement between Japan’s NYK and Mitsubishi and France’s GDF-SUEZ. The vessel will carry 5,000 cu m of LNG for ships’ fuel stored at 4 Bar in two IMO Type C pressure tanks. Today, Shell Marine Products (SMP) introduced Shell Alexia S3, its solution for large vessels with two-stroke engines entering into waters where the revised emission control area (ECA) regulations will come into force on January 1, 2015. Shell Alexia S3 will be available to customers from December 2014 in major ports across SMP’s network of more than 500 ports in more than 40 countries. SMP now offers a complete suite of lubricants for all types of engines.

Bestobell Marine has recently secured its first order to supply its brand new range of cryogenic high pressure Globe valves to DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd) in South Korea.
