McAllister Towing has persevered, and at times, served, through nine wars, 28 presidents, at least three catastrophic stock market crashes; collapsing oil prices, generations of advances in ship technology and vessel construction and design; and an explosion in maritime regulation.

Conrad Shipyard and The Shearer Group, Inc. (TSGI) said that its design of a 4,200 horsepower LNG-powered towboat received âApproval in Principleâ (AIP) from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The boat is based on TSGIâs azimuth drive (Z-drive) towboat design that debuted in 2008 as the FRANK T. STEGBAUER. To date, eight of these towboats have been built for Southern Towing Company, which is a pioneer in the use of z-drives for brown water operations.

The shipping industry is fully committed to total compliance with the 0.1% sulphur in fuel requirements, in Emission Control Areas, from January 2015. And there is no reason to suggest that there will not be full compliance, says the industryâs global trade association, the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS). âBut there is nevertheless concern amongst those owners who know that they themselvesâŚ
