DNV GL has presented Oshima Shipbuilding Company with an Approval in Principle (AiP) certificate for a LNG-fuelled Kamsarmax bulk carrier at the Nor-Shipping exhibition in Oslo today. Wärtsilä launched a series of four new container feeder vessel designs at this year's Nor-Shipping exhibition being held in Oslo from June 2 to 5. The designs are based upon achieving optimal fuel efficiency, while being compliant with all known current and future environmental regulations. Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has received an Approval in Principle (AIP) certificate from Classification society DNV GL for its SkyBench concept for increasing capacity of mega box ships. The result of development conducted by HHI and work with DNV GL, the certificate confirms that the concept complies with the DNV GL rules for the classification of ships. HHI’s Senior Executive Vice President & COO of Shipbuilding Division, Yoon Moon-kyoon, was presented with the certificate by Tor E.

Bestobell Reports Headway in Chinese Market

Bestobell Marine has secured two new contracts with Chinese shipyards. The first contract will see the company supply cryogenic valves to the Guangzhou Shipyard International, China for use in a new ferry’s LNG fuel gas system. The second contract involves Bestobell Marine producing its small cryogenic miniature needle globe valves for the Hudong shipyard in Shanghai, where they will be installed on four 174K Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Carriers.

Keppel Shipyard in Singapore and Black & Veatch in the U.S. have awarded Kongsberg Maritime an order for the delivery of an electrical package and safety and automation system for Golar LNG’s conversion of the ex-LNG Carrier Golar Hilli to an FLNG (Floating Liquefied Natural Gas production unit). Kongsberg Maritime’s technology will be the backbone of the Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) for the new FLNG.
