A deal to raise financing for the Novatek-led Yamal LNG project in Russia is in its final stages, Chairman of Gazprombank, Andrey Akimov, told Reuters. Gazprombank is a co-lender to Yamal LNG on the Russian side, along with Sberbank. State development bank VEB has pledged $3 billion in banking guarantees to the project. Akimov said that Chinese lenders are set to provide $12 billion, Russian banks $4 billion, and export credit agencies are expected to put up another $4 billion.

Classification society Bureau Veritas has granted Approval in Principle (AIP) to a 4,000-cubic-meter Bunkering Ship concept developed by France’s LNG containment manufacturer, GTT. The concept, which has now received its second AIP following the one issued yesterday by Lloyd’s Register, is for a bunker tanker which could deliver LNG as ship’s fuel using tanks with a GTT Mark III Flex Cargo Containment system operating up to a pressure of 2 barg.

A new liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage and regasification barge concept introduced by Wärtsilä's Marine Solutions and Energy Solutions businesses aims to provide a flexible means of meeting small- to medium-scale requirements where pure land-based LNG options are limited. The Wärtsilä Mobile LNG can be combined with a barge-mounted power plant having an output capacity of up to 250 MW, or it can alternatively be used to supply conventional land-based power plants.
