N.America's First LNG Marine Fuel Terminal Opens

Harvey Gulf announced the opening of the first marine LNG fueling terminal in North America. Less than a year after the delivery of the M/V Harvey Energy, America’s first LNG-powered vessel, Harvey Gulf accomplished another first when it completed a successful LNG bunkering of the Energy from the newly constructed LNG terminal facility at its operation base in Port Fourchon, La. The bunkering included the transfer of 43,000 gallons of LNG in approximately 2.25 hours without incident.

VesselsValue has provided a list ranking the top shipowning nations by value, including the percentage change difference against 2015 figures. Although the order may not have changed much from last year, the standout winner appears to be Denmark as the only country on the list to increase in values over the last 12 months, up 18 percent. Recording the biggest loss in fleet value from last year was the U.K., who saw a decrease of 19 percent.

A total of 16 new gas carrier ships being built in Japan for Japanese owners are to be powered by Wärtsilä dual-fuel engines capable of running on liquefied natural gas (LNG) or conventional diesel fuels. Wärtsilä's said its experience and technological capabilities in gas fuelled propulsion solutions were cited as being key factors in the award of these contracts – all placed between the second half of 2014 and December 2015.

Parker Bestobell Marine has recently completed a contract to supply cryogenic Globe and Check valves made in Sheffield, for Hoegh LNG’s series of five FSRUs (Floating Storage Regasification Units) that are being built at Hyundai shipyard (HHI) in South Korea. The high quality valves were a combination of manual, pneumatic, actuated and check valves in sizes DN15 to DN100 and were approved by the Class society DNV.
