World's First LNG-Powered Cruise Ships: Shell to Supply Fuel

Shell Western LNG B.V. (Shell) signed a supply agreement with Carnival Corporation & plc (Carnival) to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to fuel two of the world’s largest passenger cruise ships. Under the agreement, Shell will supply LNG for the world’s first LNG-powered cruise ships due to start sailing in northwest Europe and the Mediterranean in 2019. This will be the first time LNG in dual-fuel engines will be used in the cruise industry to power ships both in port and at sea.
New LNG Carrier Delivered to MISC Berhad

MISC Berhad (MISC) held the naming and delivery ceremony of its new LNG carrier, Seri Camellia. The 150,200 cu. m. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier is the first in a series of five MOSS-Type LNG carriers ordered from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI) by MISC. Upon their delivery, these new LNG Carriers will be chartered to PETRONAS for the next 15 years. The naming ceremony was graced by the presence of Y. Bhg.

Arctech Helsinki Shipyard delivered the most powerful newcomer in the Finnish Icebreaker fleet, icebreaker Polaris, to the Finnish Transport Agency on September 28th, 2016. The Finnish Transport Agency handed the vessel over to Arctia Icebreaking Oy. The prototype vessel built at Helsinki Shipyard is designed to serve for at least 50 years in icebreaking, oil recovery and sea rescue operations. Previous time an Finnish icebreaker with similar size range was completed in year 1994.

General Dynamics NASSCO has delivered Bay State, the fourth of five new Jones Act ECO Class product carriers under contract with American Petroleum Tankers (APT). The vessel was delivered on Monday, September 26 during a signing ceremony at the NASSCO shipyard in San Diego. The ECO Class design Bay State is a 610-foot-long, 50,000 deadweight-ton, LNG-conversion-ready product tanker with a 330,000 barrel cargo capacity. The ship’s construction began in May 2015.
First FLNG Production Facility Completes Testing

DNV GL has awarded Vard Engineering Brevik AS with an Approval in Principle (AiP) for their new 6,500 m3 bunker vessel design. The design has been evaluated for compliance with the DNV GL Gas Bunker rules, the applicable Gas Carrier rules as well as the IGC Code's 2016 edition. "The excellent cooperation between DNV GL and Vard resulted in a development enabling flexibility and quality assurance of our design.
