Big Ship Newbuildings: Global Order Update
Container ship newbuildings figure most active in the latest weekly news from Clarkson Hellas, with the majority of orders placed with China and Korea shipbuilders. Clients of Diana Shipping reports Clarkson Hellas in its Weekly Bulletin have announced a further order for one 82,000 DWT Kamsarmax at Sinopacific’s Dayang facility. Based on the Sinopacific MHI 82 design, the vessel is planned for delivery in the second quarter of 2016.

New Dry Bulk Ship Orders Take Scorpio to 8-Million DWT Level
Scorpio Bulkers Inc. The total purchase price for the vessels is approximately $1,171 million. About Scorpio Bulkers Inc. Scorpio Bulkers Inc. has contracted and agreed to purchase 28 Ultramax, 23 Kamsarmax and 23 Capesize newbuilding dry bulk vessels to be delivered starting from the second quarter of 2014 from shipyards in Japan, Korea, China and Romania. The fleet currently on order has a total carrying capacity of approximately 8-million deadweight tonnes.
China Shipbuilders to Forefront in Active Dry Bulk Sector
Another week of ordering across the sizes in the dry bulk market, say Clarkson Hellas in their latest S+P Weekly Bulletin, with orders to report from Ultramax up to Capesizes vessels. Beihai are understood to have taken an order for one firm plus one option 250,000 DWT VLOC from Sincere Navigation Corporation Enterprises with delivery of the firm vessel in 2016. Beihai have also signed one firm plus one option 180,000 DWT Capesize from Bao-Island Enterprises for 2016 delivery for the firm unit.
Scorpio Bulkers Raise Scope of IPO
Scorpio Bulkers Inc. say it has increased the size of its public offering from the initially announced 15,500,000 common shares to 31,300,000 common shares for gross proceeds of $305,175,000. The Company has granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to 4,695,000 additional common shares, and they say they plan to use all of the net proceeds of this offering to fund newbuilding vessel capital expenditures.

The bulk ship owners announce its initial public offering of 15,500,000 common shares, granting the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to 2,325,000 additional common shares. Scorpio say that the net proceeds of this public offering are expected to be used to fund newbuilding vessel capital expenditures, including capital expenditures related to the Company's initial fleet, and for general corporate purposes, including working capital.

Clearlake Charters Diana Bulk Vessel
Diana Shipping Inc., a global shipping company specializing in the ownership of dry bulk vessels, announced that yesterday through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, it entered into a time charter contract with Clearlake Shipping Pte., Ltd., Singapore, a member of the Gunvor Group, for one of its Capesize dry bulk vessels, the m/v Houston. The gross charter rate is $20,500 per day, minus a 4.75% commission paid to third parties, for a period of about 11 months to about 14 months.

Diana Shipping Charter Out Panamax Bulker at Daily US$11k
Diana Shipping Inc. has time- chartered out the 75,336 dwt MV Triton to Bunge S.A., Geneva, at a gross charter rate of US$11,000 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period of up to minimum September 1, 2014 to maximum October 31, 2014. The charter is expected to commence on December 8, 2013. The owners add that this employment is anticipated to generate approximately US$2.86 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the charter.

Diana Shipping Inc., a global shipping company specializing in the ownership of dry bulk vessels, has announced that it has entered into a time charter contract with RWE Supply & Trading GmbH, Essen, Germany, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, for one of its Capesize dry bulk vessels, the m/v JK Pioneer, to be renamed P. Transas ECDIS and Chart Service for Hellenic Carriers
Transas Hellas will supply ECDIS and Official Charts to Hellenic Carriers Corporation S.A. according to agreement recently signed between two companies. Hellenic Carriers Corporation’s fleet will be equipped with the Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS in premium configuration and Transas Admiralty Data Service (TADS) providing a comprehensive and official chart data service. All vessels will shift to paperless navigation immediately after installation is completed.
