Big Ship Newbuildings: Global Order Update
Container ship newbuildings figure most active in the latest weekly news from Clarkson Hellas, with the majority of orders placed with China and Korea shipbuilders.
Dry bulk carriers
Clients of Diana Shipping reports Clarkson Hellas in its Weekly Bulletin have announced a further order for one 82,000 DWT Kamsarmax at Sinopacific’s Dayang facility. Based on the Sinopacific MHI 82 design, the vessel is planned for delivery in the second quarter of 2016.
Jinling Shipyard took an order for four firm 64,000 DWT Ultramax from Sinotrans Shipping (part of the same group as the shipyard), with delivery of all four vessels within the second half of 2015.
Greathorse Shipping have added a further three vessels to a series of 64,000 DWT Ultramax at Chengxi Shipyard, taking the total order to six. Delivery of the latest three are understood to be within 2015.
In Japan, Wisdom Marine announced an order for three firm 63,000 DWT Ultramax at Imabari, all for delivery in 2017.
Lastly in dry, Jadroplov International are understood to have signed contracts for four firm 37,000 DWT Handysize bulk carriers at 3.Maj in Croatia, with delivery split between 2016 and 2017.
Tankships
Clarkson Hellas report just one new contract in tankers during the past week, with clients of DHT Management announcing declaration of the third in a series of 300,000 DWT VLCCs at HHI. Delivery of this latest vessel is lined up for September 2016.
Container ships
In a relatively active week in this sector Clarkson Hellas report: Costamare have ordered five firm 14,000 TEU container carriers at Samsung. Delivery is planned from Q3 2016, with pricing reported in the region USD 117 Mill per vessel.
Also in Korea, clients of Oceanbulk Maritime declared options for four further 9,200 TEU container vessels at HHI. This takes the total series to six vessels, with two further options yet to be declared. Delivery for these latest vessels is within the second half of 2015 and into 2016.
At CIC Jiangsu, Bank of Communications (BOCOM) placed an order for three firm plus three option 9,400 TEU vessels for charter to CMA CGM when delivered in 2015/2016. Pricing is understood to lie in the region USD 82.5 Mill per vessel.
