Peace Boat will showcase its plans for Ecoship, a unique concept cruise vessel, at Nor-Shipping 2017. The Japanese-based organization, which works to promote peace, human rights, sustainable development and respect for the environment, will take one of the largest spaces in the event’s exhibition Hall A, dedicated to the new industry concept of Disruptive Sustainability. Peace Boat is an international nongovernmental and nonprofit body.
TMC Tallies another Höegh FSRU Deal

TMC Compressors said it has secured a contract from Samsung Heavy Industries to deliver a marine compressed air system to a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) the South Korean shipyard is building for Höegh LNG. Under the contract, international compressor supplier TMC will deliver a complete marine compressed air system consisting of two 44 kW service air compressors and two 44 kW control air compressors. The contract value is undisclosed.

Crowley Maritime Corp.’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) services group has been awarded a multi-year contract to supply additional volumes of containerized, U.S.-sourced LNG to a major pharmaceutical company’s manufacturing plants in Puerto Rico. The contract, executed through Crowley’s Carib Energy LLC subsidiary, extends a 2014 contract awarded to Crowley for LNG supply for the facilities by expanding LNG services to additional plants.

Over the last few years, as the design output from Robert Allan Ltd. to the global tugboat community began to border on the prodigious, we were often asked, “How many tugs has your company designed?” Until very recently we really did not have a good handle on that number, so the answer was usually either “a lot” or “many hundreds”, neither of which were particularly illuminating. So a search was begun late in 2016 to review our archives and try to determine the tug tally much more precisely.

The Map Ta Phut Tank Terminal Company (MTT) has signed an official preparedness framework agreement with Ardent. The deal is the first of its kind in Thailand and is specifically structured to mitigate risk by pre-staging response elements and training Thai-based terminal operators to work with emergency management elements. MTT is a commercial port and storage terminal dedicated for liquid and gaseous petrochemical products.

Successful completion of the Petronas Floating LNG facility (PFLNG) Satu is a milestone for the oil and gas industry and for the Malaysian energy giant. Designed by consortium leader TechnipFMC and fabricated at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering yard in South Korea, PFLNG Satu achieved the first-ever production of LNG offshore in December 2016. The 365-meter by 60-meter facility processes, produces and offloads LNG in situ, directly above natural gas reservoirs.
