Damen Shiprepair Brest (DSBr) said it has completed a two week maintenance program on the 290-meter, 101,000 GT liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier GDF Suez Point Fortin. In addition to its expertise and facilities, Operator MOL LNG Transport (Europe) Ltd and ENGIE as charterer selected DSBr because it is one of the first European yards capable of performing modifications works on board LNG carriers when ‘gassed-up’, according to DSBr.
Deltamarin Wins Contract for Viking Line Newbuild

Deltamarin Ltd said it has signed contracts with Chinese shipbuilder Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd (XSI) for engineering and construction support services for the Viking Line Liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuelled ro-pax vessel newbuilding. The contracts cover basic and detail design as well as comprehensive project management support and supervision services to the shipyard during vessel construction.

SEA\LNG, the multi-sector industry coalition aiming to accelerate the widespread adoption of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a marine fuel, has announced Yokohama-Kawasaki International Port Corporation (YKIP) as its latest member. Representing the Japanese ports of Yokohama and Kawasaki, YKIP brings essential knowledge from a port’s perspective to SEA\LNG, which is working collaboratively with key players across the entire LNG value chain.

Nakilat has assumed full ship management and operations of Q-Flex liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Al Sheehaniya from STASCo (Shell Trading and Shipping Company Ltd.) with effect from July 6, 2017, as part of the planned and phased transition announced on October 19, 2016. With a cargo carrying capacity of 210,200 cubic meters, Al Sheehaniya is wholly-owned by Nakilat and chartered by Qatargas.

MacGregor Bags Equipment Order for German Research Vessel

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has signed a contract to supply oceanographic winches and Triplex deck handling systems to a new research vessel being built by the Fassmer shipyard in Berne, Germany. The order was booked into Cargotec's second quarter 2017 order intake. MacGregor equipment deliveries are planned for completion by the end of the first quarter of 2019. The new dual-fuel (LNG) 74m vessel, Atair II, is under construction for the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH).
