The first liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier to hold 1A Super ice class was named Coral EnergICE during a ceremony at the Port of Turku, Finland on January 25. The 18,000-cubic-meter capcity Coral EnergICE was constructed by German shipbuilder Neptun Werft for owner Anthony Veder, and will be operated by Skangas to transport LNG to the Skangas terminal in Pori and the joint venture Manga LNG terminal Tornio in Finland.
P&O Cruises Orders Second Ship at Meyer Werft

Carnival Corporation announced it has signed a shipbuilding contract for a second cruise ship for its P&O Cruises brand with German shipbuilder Meyer Werft GmbH that is scheduled to be delivered in 2022. Similar to a fellow P&O Cruises sister ship due for delivery in 2020, this second new vessel will be the largest cruise ship to be built specifically for the British market. It will be 180,000 gross tons and will accommodate approximately 5,200 guests (lower berths).

Production at Cheniere Energy's Sabine Pass liquefied natural gas (LNG) export plant in Louisiana is running well below capacity, resulting in disruption to cargo loadings, trade sources said. Feed gas supply into the liquefaction plant plunged sharply during the weekend, data on the Thomson Reuters Eikon terminal showed. Flows fell to 630 million cubic feet/day on Jan. 19 from 3.2 billion cubic feet/day on Jan. 15.
Milaha Acquires its Largest Containership

Qatar-based maritime and logistics conglomerate Milaha said it has acquired its largest container vessel to date, Majd, a 3,768 TEU vessel. Majd was built by STX Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in South Korea, and has a length overall of 246.87 meters and a deadweight of 44,985 metric tons. The new vessel will be one of the 17 container vessels that the group operates, and is part of the ongoing expansion of the group’s overall fleet.

U.S. natural gas producer Cheniere Energy Inc said on Tuesday Singapore-based commodity trader Trafigura Pte Ltd would buy about 1 million tonnes of natural gas per year from its unit for 15 years, starting 2019. The agreement with Cheniere Marketing, LLC would help the Houston-based company to fund its expansion plans, Chief Executive Jack Fusco said. The company has been expanding its presence in Asia to benefit from the rising demand for liquefied natural gas from the region.
