AISSat-1 Begins Mission with Kongsberg Payload
Norwayâs AISSat-1 Satellite recently started its mission with a payload developed by Kongsberg Seatex AS. The AISSat-1 was launched successfully from India on July 12, and has already begun transmitting AIS messages from space to earth via Kongsberg Satellite Services' ground station at Svalbard. AISSat-1 is an experimental satellite, equipped with a Kongsberg Seatex payload that receives and forwards AIS messages from ships.

Kvichak Marine Delivers RBM-C to NYC Police

USCGC Mackinaw SNAME Ship of the Month
SNAME announced that the USCGC Mackinaw (WLBB-30), a 240-ft vessel designed and built by Marinette Marine Corporation (a FINCANTIERI company), has been designated the SNAME Ship of the Month for June, 2010. The USCGC Mackinaw is a heavy icebreaker operating in the North American Great Lakes for the United States Coast Guard. She should not be confused with her predecessor, USCGC Mackinaw (WAGB-83), which was decommissioned on June 10, 2006.
ACB Awarded USCG Security Boat Contract
ACB has been awarded a $37.7m, five-year contract to provide the U.S. Coast Guard up to 80 Transportable Port Security Boats (TPSB). The high-performance, 32.8 ft vessels are powered with Twin 315HP Yanmar Diesels and Bravo X-1 outdrives and will replace the USCGâs current aging inventory. The TPSB will operate in coastal areas throughout the world and are capable of conducting missions in as little as 24 inches of water or can safely operate in 10 ft sea conditions.
