SAR System Accepted by U.S. Coast Guard Buffalo
General Dynamics C4 Systems-built Rescue 21 search and rescue communications system formally accepted by USCG Sector Buffalo. The live-saving Rescue 21 system uses advanced direction-finding technologies and digital communications, enabling Coast Guard personnel to respond rapidly and efficiently to calls from distressed mariners out to at least 20 nautical miles from shore. It also enables greater effectiveness in responding to security and maritime environmental threats.

Latvia Navy Accepts Locally-built Patrol Boat
Patrol boat 'Viesite', built in the country's Riga Shipyard, has been accepted by Latvia's Ministry of Defence. The building of patrol ship ViesÄ«te was started June 17th, 2009 and it is third of five new SWATH type patrol ships built for the Latvian Navy, this vessel having been completely built in JSC āRÄ«gas kuÄ£u bÅ«vÄtavaā. Other patrol boats in the newbuilding project were in attendance including Skrunda and CÄsis, as well as headquarters and procurement ship Varonis.
US Warship Answers Persian Gulf Help Call
Guided-missile destroyer USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81) renders medical assistance to Panamanian-flagged, bulk carrier M/V Belde. Winston S. Churchill responded to a distress call following a cargo-handling accident aboard Belde. The destroyer dispatched two rigid-hull inflatable boats, transporting the ship's hospital corpsman, and the visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) team to assess the injured personnel.
Second RB-M C Delivered to NYPD
Kvichak Marine Industries, of Seattle, WA, recently delivered the second 44.5ā Response Boat Medium ā C (RB-M C) to the New York City Police Harbor Unit. The first hull, P.O. Edward Byrne, has been in service since April 2010 providing maritime security and law enforcement along with search and rescue in the New York metropolitan area. A third vessel is currently under construction at Kvichak with delivery scheduled for late October 2012.

Yachtsman Plucked from N.Atlantic 40-ft Swell
A team of Royal Navy aviators rescue an injured man from his yacht 70 miles offshore UK coast in Sea State 8 & a 40-foot (12m) swell. The duty crew of 771 Naval Air Squadron, based at Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Culdrose in Helston, Cornwall, carried out the risky operation following a 'scramble' to a lone sailor in difficulties. Having conducted a visual search of the area for over an hour, 70 miles (113km) out at sea, in very poor visibility, the team located the sailor when he lit a flare.

The radar is well suited for small combatants, and has been installed aboard corvettes and frigates, patrol boats, and the littoral combat ship, and is in service or selected for installation with 12 navies around the world.
New Response Boat for US Coast Guard St Ignace
The crew of Coast Guard Station St. Ignace, Mich., has taken delivery of the stationās new 45-foot Response Boat-Medium. The station crew will be running tests on the new boat out of the St. Ignace Harbor within Lake Huron, to gain experience of its advanced capabilities. The RB-M can respond faster than previous boats of similar size and has a top speed in excess of 40 knots with advanced search capability and with an installed forward-looking infrared search technology.
Fugro Get Papua New Guinea Pipeline IRM Contract
Fugro-TSM, a division of Fugro Subsea Services, has been awarded the Kumul Marine Terminal Pipeline IRM (Inspection Repair Maintenance) contract by Oil Search Limited. The contract is for the provision of a DP2 DSV to support air diving services around the Kumul Marine Terminal in the Gulf of Papua, PNG. FTSM has mobilised the Rem Etive, complete with work class ROV, air diving spread and associated diver tooling to undertake the IRM works around the platform, oil export pipeline and CALM Buoy.
