USCG Cutter Returns from 92-day Deployment
U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Boutwell returned home to San Diego after a three-month deployment to the Bering Sea, Thursday morning. During this deployment, the Boutwell's crew conducted fisheries enforcement boardings on commercial fishing vessels and patrolled the Maritime Boundary Line between Russia and the United States. Maritime Boundary Line patrols serve to deter illegal fishing by foreign vessels in the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone.
Somali Pirate Victims: Lifeboats Spotted
Photo update: sunken MV Albedo lifeboats sighted from the air on Somali beach. An EU Naval Force warship and Maritime Patrol Aircraft closed the scene to search for survivors. During the aerial search, EU Naval Force Maritime Patrol Aircraft sighted two life boats on a Somali beach approximately 14 miles north of the position of the Albedo. Somali Pirate Ship Victim: Latest Photo Update
15 Crew members of the Malaysian-flagged MV Albedo remain unaccounted for after the vessel sank in an anhorage close to the Somali coast. MV Albedo has been in pirate hands since it was attacked in the Indian Ocean in November 2010, and was in pirate hands when it sank. An EU Naval Force warship and Maritime Patrol Aircraft have closed the sea area and are continuing to carry out a Search and Rescue operation to search for any survivors. The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has selected Michael Gold as Director of Communications & Community Relations for the Port of Long Beach, beginning in mid-July. The Board voted Gold to the post at their July 1 meeting, following a six-month search to replace Heather Morris, who retired after heading the department for more than eight years. One Missing After Collision on Sabine Lake
The Coast Guard, Port Arthur Fire Department and Jefferson County Sheriff's Department are searching for a 56-year-old man after a collision occurred between the tug and barge Father Seelos and the missing man's pleasure craft about 500 feet west of Goat Island in Sabine Lake, Sunday. Missing is John Tran of Bridge City, Texas. The captain of tug Father Seelos contacted Vessel Traffic Service Port Arthur at approximately 2:30 p.m. notifying them of the collision.

Great Lakes, St Lawrence Seaway Coastguard Command Changes
The US Coast Guard change-of-command ceremony for its 9th District, which spans the five Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence Seaway, and parts of the surrounding states; & at the same time a retirement ceremony for its departing commander. Vice Adm. Robert Parker, Coast Guard Atlantic Area commander, presided over the ceremony to transfer command of the 9th District from Rear Adm. Michael Parks to Rear Adm. Fred Midgette. Parks assumed command of the 9th District in April 2010.
