The construction of Viking Glory is proceeding on schedule. The keel laying ceremony will take place June 3, at the Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry shipyard in China. The new climate-smart ship will begin operating along the Turku-Åland-Stockholm route under the year 2021. Passengers can make bookings for the ship as of December 2019.The keel laying ceremony is an old shipbuilding tradition, in which coins are placed under the keel of the ship to bring luck during the construction phase.
Damen to Build Seaspan LNG-Hybrid RoRo Ferries

Damen is building two LNG-Hybrid RoRo Ferries for Seaspan at Damen Shipyards Mangalia. These two innovative 149-meter vessels will join Seaspan’s fleet with 1,034 lane meters and have 209m3 LNG storage onboard as well as 2 megawatt hours of battery capacity. They will go into service for Seaspan Ferries as part of the company’s fleet replacement program. The vessels will be classed by Bureau Veritas and will go into operation in 2021 with construction starting in 2019
