Saint-Louis De Gonzague Bridge Restored

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

December 29, 2008

The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) announced on Dec. 19 that the Saint-Louis de Gonzague Bridge was restored to full operation. After a series of repairs and adjustments, the lift span will resumed normal operation permitting automobiles to cross the Beauharnois Canal.

A series of cables that were damaged on Friday, December 12, due to heavy ice and snow precipitation have been replaced.  Crews have been working diligently over the past few days to adjust the cables and to conduct a series of tests.

The SLSMC wishes to convey its appreciation to all local residents for their understanding and goodwill during the interruption in traffic flow.

The orderbook for U.S. dredgers is about $3B, and according to DCA CEO Bill Doyle, the incoming political administration could help this niche maritime sector continue its bull run.
