SOIC has selected Nupas-Cadmatic for 3D CAD/CAM to create increasingly intricate designs of ships and vessels. After doing research about possible software suppliers, SOIC invited the selected companies for demonstrations.

Nupas-Cadmatic performed the best and met the demands of SOIC. Both companies decided to start with a pilot project. SOIC placed an order with Nupas-Cadmatic after the three month trial was successfully completed. Ship and Ocean Industries R&D Center, also known as SOIC, was established in 1976 under the sponsorship of the Ministries of Economic Affairs, National Defense, Communications, and Education and with donation from several large contractors.

SOIC has designed over 70 ships of which almost 240 have been built, ranging from navy and patrol vessels, to tug boats, to product carriers and cargo ships. SOIC designs and engineers ships fully to the contractors requirements, starting with feasibility studies and step-by-step via concept, preliminary, basic and contract design to the detailed design ready for production. All in close cooperation with the contractor. This results in tailor made high quality ships.

In addition to the full design and engineering of ships, SOIC offers advanced technical service. SOIC offers the review of contract specifications, review of drawings, equipment inspections, on site supervision, sea trial attendances and ship’s noise and vibration measurements. This way SOIC wants to rise above the competition by offering a complete package including advanced after-sales services. Till June 2009 SOIC has successfully performed and completed technical services of new building or conversion for 394 ship sets.

SOIC has distinguished itself by improving their ship designs to high standards using the most advanced modeling and design software. Using advanced CFD technology, motion response, propeller cavitation and exciting force modeling and virtual reality tools, SOIC designs highly efficient vessels. With the Nupas-Cadmatic software they will improve even more to stay ahead of the competition.
