Klein Navigation, a division of Klein Associates, Inc., announced that after successful sea trials aboard the USAV JAMES A LOUX, LSV-6, the U.S. Army awarded a second contract to Klein Navigation and Conley Associates, Inc. for a complete Raytheon Integrated Navigation System for the USAV General Brehon Somervell, LSV-3.

The Raytheon Integrated Navigation System provided by Klein Navigation and Conley Associates for LSV-6 consists of the: Raytheon IMO approved dual MK2 ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) complete with multiple Electronic Chart Navigation data bases including C-Map and NIMA and Ethernet interface for network exchange of route and ENC information; Raytheon IMO approved Digital Autopilot system with dual track control; and Raytheon Steering control to improve the vessels maneuvering capabilities. The scope of supply for LSV-3 has been expanded to also include dual Mk2 Raytheon ARPA Radar Systems; the Nautoconning system for centralized sensor management and maneuvering displays; the Nauto Alarm management system; dual DGPS systems and the Wind Speed and Direction system.

The orderbook for U.S. dredgers is about $3B, and according to DCA CEO Bill Doyle, the incoming political administration could help this niche maritime sector continue its bull run.
