Totem Plus signed a license agreement with Naval Dome for use of its cyber security software across a range of its automation and navigation solutions.

Under the agreement, Totem Plus is licensed to integrate the Naval Dome software with the hard drives across several hundred systems in the Totem Plus portfolio, providing the highest level of cyber protection at the system build stage, prior to shipment to end-users. The Totem Plus systems leave the factory fully cyber protected by Naval Dome.

The two Israel-based companies began working together in 2017 when the Naval Dome solution was used to protect the Totem Plus ECDIS, IMAC (Integrated Monitoring, Alarm & Control), VDR and BAM (Bridge Alert Management) installations aboard a 5000TEU containership.

The success of this installation together with DNV GL Type Approval in February this year led Totem Plus to acquire an annual licence for use of the technology across its product portfolio.

All existing Totem Plus systems currently in operation, including ECDIS, VDR, bridge management and machinery control systems, can be automatically updated with the Naval Dome security system, when technicians carry out software upgrades. New orders for Totem Plus hardware can also be specified with the Naval Dome protection.

On request, Totem Plus can also supply the Naval Dome Dashboard. This provides ship and shore personnel with an exact picture of the security status of the critical equipment onboard ships across entire fleet.

The Naval Dome software is encapsulated in existing maritime OEM vendor software and hard disks. It requires no change to the original software, nor does it change the operation of the Original Equipment Manufacturers’ software or systems.
