Public Meeting Re: Tongass Narrows
The Coast Guard urges all interested parties to attend a meeting at 1 pm on April 7, 2008 to review and improve the Tongass Narrows Voluntary Waterway Guide. The Southeast Alaska Pilots' Association will host the meeting at the "Crow's Nest" on the U.S. Coast Guard base in Ketchikan. Since taking effect in 1999, the Tongass Narrows Voluntary Waterway Guide has helped de-conflict traffic on the congested waterway. The Guide represents the consensus of all the waterway's stakeholders. It is an evolving document that depends on the input of waterway users for its vitality. This meeting will serve as a forum where all concerns, solutions, and proposals for change to the Guide can be shared. Submit agenda items to Donald Charles or Eric Collins by mail (1621 Tongass Ave, Suite 300, Ketchikan, AK 99901) or email ([email protected]) prior to the meeting. The Tongass Narrows Voluntary Waterway guide may be accessed from the Southeast Alaska Pilots' Association website, http://www.seapa.com/ (click "Tongass Nar. VWG" on the left navigation bar"), or from Coast Guard Sector Juneau's website http://homeport.uscg.mil/juneau (under the Waterways Management header).
