Prysmian’s New CLVs Get Miros’ Wave Monitoring Tech

Miros has extended its agreement with Prysmian for the supply of wave monitoring systems, which have been installed on Prysmian Monna Lisa and Prysmian Marco Polo cable laying vessels (CLVs).Both vessels have been fitted with Miros’ WaveSystem and Miros Cloud technology and now benefit from real-time sea state and weather data.This builds upon the successful deployment of the same monitoring systems on Prysmian Leonardo da Vinci vessel in 2021.Prysmian's Marco Polo specializes in shallow-water cable laying and burial installation, even in harsh environmental conditions.

Solstad’s Subsea Construction Vessel Gets Long-Term Assignment from Prysmian

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Solstad Offshore has signed a five-year contract for its subsea construction support vessel (CSV) Normand Ocean with Prysmian Powerlink.With the contract, the vessel will be on a firm contract with Prysmian until 2032, with an additional two-year option.Prysmian has contracted the CSV Normand Ocean to support the installation of power cable systems on the company's global projects.The firm contract will start during the first or second quarter of 2027 and run until 2032.

AV Dawson, owner and operator of Port of Middlesbrough, has signed a 10-year partnership agreement with Italian offshore cable manufacturer Prysmian. Vard Selects TMC to Equip Prysmian’s Newbuild Cable Laying Vessel

Prysmian Commissions Inter-Array Cable System at French Offshore Wind Farm

Prysmian Group has commissioned the inter-array cable system for the Fécamp offshore wind farm, located in the English Channel, offshore France.The Fécamp offshore wind farm is composed of 71 wind turbines with a total capacity of nearly 500MW.It will be able to generate clean electricity equivalent to the power needs of over 770,000 people.Prysmian had secured this project in 2020 with a contract awarded by EDF Renewables and its partners.Asso.subsea was contracted by Prysmian Group to execute the seabed preparation, installation and protection works for the cables.

Prysmian Installs Vineyard Wind 1 Cables

Italian power and telecom cable-making and installation services firm Prysmian Group said Monday it had completed the installation and HV testing activities at Vineyard Wind 1, the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in the US. Located more than 15 miles off the coast of Massachusetts, Vineyard Wind will consist of an array of 62 wind turbines that will generate 800 MW of electricity and power over 400,000 homes. The first turbine was installed last week.As for the Prysmian scope, the project was awarded to Prysmian Group in May 2019 by Vineyard Wind, LLC.

Italian Cable Giant Ups Emission Reduction Targets for the Near Term

Vard's shipyard in Tulcea, Romania, on Wednesday held a keel laying ceremony for the Prysmian Group's newest cable laying vessel.The new 171-meter vessel, an identical sister ship to the state-of-the-art Leonardo da Vinci delivered in 2021, is scheduled to start commercial operation in early 2025.According to the Prysmian Group, both the new ship and the Leonardo da Vinci are the only installation vessels in the world with two rotating platforms of 7,000 and 10,000 tons, bringing the total capacity up to 14,000 tons to ensure the highest carousel capacity in the market.

Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri announced its Vard subsidiary has secured an order to design and build a new cable laying vessel for an unnamed "international shipping company".The ship will be built entirely by the Vard network, including the main systems and equipment, for scheduled delivery in 2024, Fincantieri said.At approximately 95 meters long, the vessel will have a total of 3,700 tons of cable installation equipment, 60 single cabins, DP2 positioning and seakeeping system.
