The SENER Group division in Shanghai has presented the FORAN System in the Dalian Ocean University (DOU) in China on October 28.

Invited by the DOU, the Technical Consultant Zhi Jiang, from SENER´s office in Shanghai, gave the lecture ‘3D Ship Digital Design with FORAN System’ about the outfitting design with FORAN, one of its main design disciplines.

More than 40 students from the School of Navigation and Naval Architecture of DOU have attended the lecture with great interest in FORAN. The presentation is the first of a series of lectures that DOU plans to do with the objective of showing the students the state-of-art design technology before entering into their professional career.

Located in the coastal city of Dalian, DOU is the most exclusive university with a wide diversity of disciplines in northern China which features aquaculture, oceanic science and technology. Among the disciplines, they are included Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Agriculture, Engineering, Science, Management, Arts, Law and Economics.

SENER contributes to education with collaborations with universities over the world for the use of FORAN licenses for educational purposes. Under such strategy, SENER has established a relationship with five universities in China including Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Technology, Harbin Engineering University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Zhejiang Ocean University.

For its part, SENER’s FORAN System, a CAD/CAM/CAE software for the design and production of ships and offshore structures, has celebrated its 50 years in 2015, half a century of continuous reinvention that makes it the longest available in the market. Today, FORAN is in the state-of-the-art of technology, installed in 40 countries and used in world-renowned programs.
