Interior Refit for Cunard's Queen Victoria
McCue Crafted Fit secured a repeat order from Cunard to refit the shops and art gallery on board its luxury liner, Queen Victoria. This follows the remastering of aspects of the Queen Mary 2 (QM2) in Hamburg, Germany in 2016.
The £34 million ($43 million) refit comprises of an upgraded and increased choice of staterooms, new Britannia Club dining, a broader and more distinct bar offering, a transformed sun deck, enhanced retail areas and relocated new larger art gallery.
On the May 5, 2017 Queen Victoria set sail from Southampton with some of McCue’s refit team on board to remove the existing fixtures and fittings in preparation for the ship to enter dry dock for a partial refit at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, which commenced on the May 10.
Once Queen Victoria was safely in dry dock the rest of the McCue team flew from Dublin to Palermo to board the ship to start the significant refit. The shop display units and counters were manufactured over a record breaking two-week period at the McCue factory in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, before being transported 2,176 miles to Palermo, just in time prior to the ships arrival in the island of Sicily.
