On November 1, 2012, Grandweld Shipyards has celebrated the keel laying of the three new 42M Aluminum Crew Boats for the repeat client Global Marine. The contract was signed in August 2012 following the successful delivery of the three sister crew boats in 2011.
The series is a heavily modified version of the 41M, and is designed to reach a speed in excess of 25 knots and incorporates luxury seating, accommodation for VIP guests, larger deck space and enhanced comfort for the crew. The vessel features a total seating capacity for 83 passengers, 110sqm loading area for over 90 Tons of deck cargo handled by a deck crane, fire fighting capability, bulk cement handling, in addition to the capacity of carrying large amount of fuel and freshwater. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in last quarter 2013.

These vessels are in demand not only for transport, but also for its security capabilities, where it can be used in areas where piracy has become an increasing problem” said Jamal Abki, Grandweld General Manager.

In addition to the three 42M crew boats to be built for Global Marine, Grandweld is currently undertaking the construction of more than 20 vessels including Seismic Support vessels, Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels with DP2 capability, Fast Intervention Supply Vessels, Service Boats, Crew Boats among others.
