Japan Radio Company (JRC) has received DNV-GL Integrated Navigation System (INS) type approval for the Multi Function Display (MFD) which also includes the network based ICS suffix.

JRC’s flexible system meets and exceeds the new IMO performance standard resolution MSC.252(83) and are approved to be expanded to meet the highest class notations such as NAUT-OC/AW/OSV to ensure the safety of a vessel at sea.

The INS provides added value for officers to plan, monitor and/or control safety of navigation and progress of the ship by combining and integrating functions and information, JRC said. Integrity monitoring by evaluating inputs from several sources realizes correct, timely and unambiguous information to the operators.

The INS provides alert management for ease of situational awareness by categorizing upon priority and synchronizes radar targets within task stations, detected by advanced radar transceivers, including the Solid State S-band, that keep the workload within the capacity of operators.

Within the INS, the system is composed of five multifunctional displays of the JMR-9200 and JAN-9200 series for task control between radar, ECDIS and conning displays. The MFD’s are fully integrated as network based navigation systems (ICS) and are capable of managing the assigned functions simultaneously, with all functions being accessible to the navigator by a single operator action.
