MAN Powers Worldâs First LNG-fueled Bulk Carrier
The worldâs first liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled bulk carrier, the 50,000 dwt newbuild Ilshin Green Iris, is powered by state-of-the-art technology from MAN Diesel & Turbo. The groundbreaking vessel, delivered in February 2018 for owner Ilshin Logistics, was constructed by South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) as part of a project announced in July 2016 to develop the first in a new generation of environmentally-friendly LNG-fueled bulk carriers.
Aspin Kemp, MAN Diesel & Turbo Finalize Partnership
Canadian engineering firm Aspin Kemp and Associates Inc. (AKA) and German based engine and turbomachinery market leader MAN Diesel & Turbo SE have finalized an agreement between the two companies whereby MAN Diesel & Turbo steps in as a 40 percent shareholder in AKA. Through this new partnership, AKA said it will look to build its innovative potential with MAN in a broader market for power and energy solutions. Company co-founder Jason Aspin remains a controlling shareholder and CEO of AKA.

MAN Diesel & Turbo Sells First HyProp ECO System
MAN Diesel & Turbo announced that it has secured an order for a complete propulsion package for a chemical tanker. The order is significant in that it marks a âworld-firstâ: the package is the first to feature a full HyProp ECO fuel-saving, hybrid propulsion system with PTO/PTH. The system will be employed aboard a 7,500-dwt stainless-steel chemical tanker ordered and operated by IÇDAĹ Çelik Enerji Tersane Ve UlaĹim Sanayi AĹ in Turkey.

Japanese engine manufacturer JFE has entered a new cooperation agreement with MAN Diesel & Turbo for MAN's 32/44CR, 35/44DF, 48/60CR and 51/60DF modern four-stroke engine types. The agreement applies to marine newbuild projects for ships to be deployed on Japanese domestic trade routes, and where the shipyards and shipowners involved are located in Japan. MAN Diesel & Turbo Acquires Cryoâs Marine Fuel & Bunkering Business
MAN Diesel & Turbo Sverige AB, a wholly owned subsidiary of MAN Diesel & Turbo SE (part of MAN and Volkswagen Group), acquires the marine fuel gas supply system (FGSS) business from the Sweden based Cryo AB, part of the Linde Engineering Division and a manufacturer of cryogenic equipment for the storage, distribution and handling of liquefied gases. It will be integrated into the companyâs four-stroke marine business.
PureNOx Approved for MAN Diesel & Turbo EGR system
Alfa Laval has become the first company in the world to be approved by MAN Diesel & Turbo to supply a water treatment system, PureNOx, for MANâs exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) scrubber. The approval comes with less than a year to go before the IMO Tier III NOx standards take effect on January 1, 2016. A comprehensive NOx abatement technology, the EGR will be used with the MANâs two-stroke marine engines to reduce NOx emissions.
