ACBL Orders 11,000 HP Towboat from C&C Marine and Repair
Jeffersonville, Ind. based American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) on Tuesday announced it has signed a contract with Belle Chasse, La. shipyard C&C Marine and Repair to build a 11,000 horsepower (HP) class towboat.Designed by Portland, Maine-based CT Marine, the twin-screw towboat will measure 198 feet long, with 50-foot beam and 12-foot depth. With accommodations for a crew of up to 12, the vessel incorporates a floating, spring-mounted superstructure for additional onboard comfort.

C&C Marine to Build Four Damen Multi Cat Workboats
Belle Chasse, La. shipbuilder C&C Marine and Repair will build four new Damen Multi Cat 3013 workboats to be delivered over the course of 2023.The first two vessels will be delivered to Galveston, Texas based dredging contractor Callan Marine, and the second two vessels will be built on spec for sale or lease to the U.S. market.The Multi Cat 3013 design comes from the Netherlands-based shipbuilding conglomerate Damen Shipyards Group, which licenses its designs to U.S.

Belle Chasse, La. shipbuilder C&C Marine and Repair has delivered the new towboat Bowling Green to Kirby Inland Marine, L.P.The newbuild—the second in a three-boat series for Kirby, delivered six months after the first vessel—will operate it under a long-term lease from Hines Furlong Line.The triple-screw 6,600-horsepower towboat measures 170’ x 50’ with the pilot house eyeline measuring at 39’-3”. C&C Marine and Repair has delivered the new towboat Olive Parker to Parker Towing Company. The vessel is the first the Belle Chasse, La. shipbuilder has built for the Tuscaloosa, Ala. based company.The 4,400-horsepower towboat measures 147.5’ x 34’ x 10’-9” with the pilot house eyeline measuring at 33’. C&C Building Towboat Trio for Hines Furlong
Hines Furlong Line currently has a trio of identical 6,000-horsepower towboats on order at C&C Marine and Repair in Belle Chasse, La.The timing is right to order the high-power newbuilds, said Kent Furlong, president and founder of Hines Furlong Line (HFL), citing the long-term implications of Subchapter M and the industry’s aging higher horsepower line haul fleet as key drivers behind the decision. “Many of the high-horsepower vessels in the HFL fleet are among the oldest,” he said.

Just nine months after opening their new Robotic Paint and Blasting facility C&C Marine and Repair has announced the blasting of its 100th barge. “We knew we had the capability to blast and paint barges quickly and efficiently, but what we’ve been able to accomplish in these first nine months has exceeded our expectations in both speed and quality of blast” says C&C Marine and Repair’s owner, Tony Cibilich.
New Indoor Paint and Robotic Barge Blasting Facility
LA based C&C Marine and Repair has announced the opening of their new indoor, climate controlled, Paint and Blast Facility. The 83,350 square foot facility can accommodate barges up to 320’x75’x20’ and will be able to blast and paint a standard 30,000 Barrel Tank Barge or two 10,000 Barrel Tank Barges in 7-10 days. The fully enclosed, climate-controlled facility is unaffected by inclement weather and allows for uninterrupted operation year round.

Belle Chasse, La. based C&C Marine and Repair said it has expanded its shipyard with the acquisition of another 1,000 linear feet of bulkhead, along with a 16,725 square foot Spooling Shop equipped with two 20 ton overhead cranes.With this latest expansion, C&C Marine and Repair now has 3,200 linear feet of continuous waterfrontage along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (Algiers Canal), and more than 470,000 square feet of area under roof.

The Shearer Group, Inc. (TSGI) announced the completion of a 200’ x 35’ x 12’ double skin tank barge. TSGI was contracted by C&C Marine and Repair, LLC to provide contract design services. The barge is the first of a series of double skin tank barges that will be built by C&C Marine. It is a flush deck barge with externally framed tanks and classed as a Subchapter O, USCG, acid barge.
