Five people were rescued and three died when a fishing vessel capsized off the west coast of South Korea. The coast guard reported this on Monday.

His office reported that President Yoon Suk Yeol received a briefing about the incident Monday morning. He then ordered the Oceans and Fisheries Minister and the chief of the Coast Guard to deploy all personnel and equipment available to conduct a search and rescue.

Yonhap had reported that a 35-ton boat capsized in North Jeolla Province near Gunsan at 7:36 am. A helicopter and patrol vessel were then launched. (Reporting and editing by Ed Davies.)
