Nineteen reported dead in Ethiopian boat accident
A state-run news outlet reported on Sunday that at least 19 people were killed in Ethiopia when a boat capsized in a river located in the northwest of the country.
Ethiopian Press Agency reported that the tragedy took place in Amhara on Saturday, as a group was crossing the river Tekeze which forms part of the border between Ethiopian and Eritrea.
When the accident happened, there were at least 26 passengers on board.
According to EPA, seven people, including a young child, have been rescued. Only two bodies have so far been recovered.
This was the second major incident to occur in Ethiopia within a few days. A landslide that occurred in the south on Monday killed more than 250 people.
