Italian Sea Group denies any responsibility in the Mike Lynch yacht sinking

Posted to Maritime Reporter on November 12, 2024

Italian Sea Group's chief executive stated on Tuesday that the company is not responsible for the sinking of Mike Lynch’s superyacht which resulted in the death of the British tech billionaire Mike Lynch and six other people.

The Bayesian, a luxury yacht built by Perini Navi in 2008, is now owned and operated by Italian Sea Group. The yacht was sunk in August when it was struck by a violent thunderstorm off the coast of Sicily.

In an analyst presentation, Italian Sea Group CEO Giovanni Costantino stated that the 2021 purchase of Perini Navi's assets at a bankruptcy auction was "without any accountability for the actions carried out by previous management".
