China's state broadcaster CCTV, citing the Chinese embassy in Thailand, reported that a Chinese tourist died and another was injured when their jet skis collided on Phuket Island, Thailand, Tuesday.

CCTV reported that the cause of the incident is being investigated.

The incident is the second involving Chinese tourists in two days near Phuket.

Thailand is a favorite destination for Chinese tourists planning to travel over the Lunar New Year holiday.

CCTV reported that a catamaran containing 33 Chinese and five crew members capsized on Monday off the coast Koh Racha Island, north of Phuket.

The report stated that all those aboard were rescued without any casualties.

In 2016, Chinese tourists made up the largest group of visitors in Thailand with 6.7 millions visits.
