A boat crash on Congo's Lake Kivu has resulted in the recovery of 23 bodies.
On Thursday, Colonel Molatelo Motau of SADC's mission in Democratic Republic of Congo announced that 40 people were rescued and 23 bodies recovered following a boating accident on Lake Kivu.
Video seen by showed the boat tipping sideways and then capsizing in calm water. The video was not verified immediately.
Local migration authorities reported that approximately 45 males, and 35 females had been registered as passengers. However, these figures are not final and the ages of those individuals were unknown.
