Krupp Fordertechnik Delivers Cutter Suction Dredger To Indonesia

A 262-ft. (80-m) cutter suction dredger named Batang Anai was delivered to the Ministry of Communications of the Republic of Indonesia.

It was built by the Ltibeckbased marine technology product unit of Krupp Fordertechnik GmbH in a consortium with Volkswerft GmbH, Stralsund. The vessel, together with two 5,000-cu.-m. hopper suction dredgers already delivered, will be used by PT (Persero) Pengerukan Indonesia, Jakarta, for the maintenance of harbors and waterways and for land reclamation. Batang Anai is 262 ft. (80 m) long, with a breadth of 61 ft. (18.5 m) and depth of 23 ft. (7 m).

Volkswerft built the hulls, while Krupp Fordertechnik assumed syst em responsibility, supplying all engineering and advanced dredger equipment. The self-propelled dredger can store 1,640 ft. (500 m) of floating pipeline, the 2,849-mm cutterhead has a high drive ratio of 2 x 900 kW, and the spud-carriage construction permits dredging under heavy sea conditions.
