Abandoned Seafarers Repatriated After Five Months on Livestock Carrier
Thirteen Filipino seafarers, the last of 43 abandoned on two livestock carriers, have made it home after more than five months onboard the Yangtze Harmony.The International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) intervened after the ship’s owners abandoned the vessel and its crew in October 2022. At that time, the Singapore Sheriff court seized the Yangtze Harmony on behalf of Glander International Bunkering over an unpaid fuel bill.
Mack Boring Announces the Passing of Ned McGovern III
Mack Boring & Parts Co., a supplier of engines and power products to industrial and marine markets, announced industry veteran Edward “Ned” McGovern III. Ned passed away on April 14, at the age of 77, following a seven-year battle with prostate cancer.In 1990, Ned became the third generation of McGovern leaders to become President of Mack Boring, and later Co-President with his brother Steve from 2003-2008.

Foss Tug Crew Rescues Fisherman in Distress
Crewmembers from a Foss Maritime tugboat recently saved a fisherman from the water in Astoria, Ore. The company, which received a report from witness Bob Dorn, CEO of Hyak Maritime, shared on social media that the crewmembers Zach Teal and Dan Lorenz mad the rescue on April 12.The mariners were on a pier at at Hyak Tongue Point when they heard splashing and shouting from the water about two hundred yards away and took off running to assist.
