Svitzer has announced the purchase of the Dutch tugboat Mercurius, which has been renamed to Svitzer Mercurius and reflagged to the UK.The tug will be deployed in the Port of Southampton, where the tug increases the company’s fleet in Southampton to six vessels with a collective bollard pull of 415 tons.Built by Damen in 2014, the ASD 3212 tugboat has a strong bollard pull of 82 tons and a top speed of 14 knots, powered by two main and two auxiliary engines supplied by Caterpillar.

Stena Line Invests in Ferry Upgrades
Powered by growth on the Rostock and Trelleborg route, Stena Line announced plans to invest $5.5m in a refit and renovation of the cabins and public spaces onboard the two ships, FS Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and M/S Skåne.The refit will start in the end of December and take place both during the planned yard visits and during operation. The project will be finished in time before the peak season 2020.Renovation will cover all cabins and public areas, corridors and food outlets.

ESG Delivers M/V Jaden Pasentine
Eastern Shipbuilding Group has delivered of the M/V Jaden Pasentine (Hull 200). The 70th 90’x 32’x 10’ Inland Towboat built by Eastern for Florida Marine Transporters, LLC of Mandeville, LA. In 2018, Florida Marine Transporters, LLC signed four more additional towboats, bringing the total to seventy (70) vessels contracted over the last 14 years. The M/V Jaden Pasentine was constructed at Eastern’s Allanton Facility and designed by Gilbert Associates, Inc.
Damen Delivers Two New Vessels to RAK Ports
Damen Shipyards Group has delivered two vessels to RAK Ports in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The deliveries took place on December 5th at the Ras Al Khaimah Cruise Terminal. The vessels in question were a Damen Multi Cat 1908 and a Stan Tug 1907.The Multi Cat is named Hobby. Hobby's first role is positioning more than fifty pontoons for a firework display at New Year. Two world records will be attempted during this high-profile event at Marjan Island in Ras al Khaimah.

CMA CGM's Containerships has announced delivery of its fourth container ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the 1,380-TEU Containerships Arctic.After the introduction of its three sister ships, the CMA CGM Group took delivery of the Containerships Arctic, on December 10th, 2019.
