Great Lakes Iron Ore Trade Up 7% in July
Shipments of iron ore on the Great Lakes totaled 6.46 million tons in July, an increase of 7 percent compared to a year ago, according to the Lake Carriers’ Association. Shipments were also 11 percent ahead of the month’s five-year average.Year-to-date the iron ore trade stands at 26.6 million tons, a decrease of 3.2 percent compared to the same point in 2017. However, iron shipments are 5.6 percent ahead of their five-year average for the seven months of the year.

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) survey and inspection firm Cyberhawk has completed the first full ABS Intermediate Hull Survey 4 on an oil tanker using UAVs.Cyberhawk performed full class inspection across 19 tanks on board an oil tanker while at a shipyard in Singapore. SeaKing Electrical Wins Windermere Ferry Repair Deal
Birkenhead, Merseyside based maritime engineering company SeaKing Electrical has won a tender from Cumbria County Council to repair the electrics on the council-owned car ferry the Mallard following a fire earlier this year.The ferry’s engine room caught fire in March following a hydraulic leak causing an evacuation of 80 people from the vessel while it was operating on Lake Windermere in England’s Lake District.
Baltic Index Remains Flat on Monday
