On June 30, 2018, a trailer suction hopper dredger DC Brugge was delivered to Scheepswerf Gebr. Kooiman B.V. in Zwijndrecht. DC Brugge is the result of close cooperation between Group de Cloedt and Kooiman Marine Group. With the DC Brugge, Group de Cloedt is updating its fleet of dredgers. The vessel, with a hopper volume of 2,450 m3, replaces the 43-year-old Interballast 1 (1,680 m3) and will be deployed in the granulate dredger fleet of Group De Cloedt.
Baltic Index Higher on Demand for Larger Vessels
The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index, which tracks rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, inched up on Friday, helped by higher demand for capesize and panamax vessels. The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax and supramax shipping vessels, rose 10 points, or 0.6 percent, to 1,622 points, the highest since Dec. 14. The index was up for a second-consecutive week gaining 17.1 percent, its biggest weekly jump in four.
