Arctech to Build Peace Boat's 'Ecoship'
Japanese cruise organization Peace Boat has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with the Finnish shipbuilding company Arctech Helsinki Shipyard Inc. Peace Boat director and founder Yoshioka Tatsuya, Esko Mustamaki, CEO from Arctech and Jon Rysst, Regional Manager North Europe, from Classification Society DNV GL, announced the agreement during Nor-Shipping. Yoshioka said, "We have agreed with Arctech to build the Ecoship, the most innovative and ecologically friendly cruise vessel ever.

Baltic Index Slips to Near 3-month Low
The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index, tracking rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, fell to a nearly three-month low on Tuesday, hurt by weaker rates across all vessel segments. The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize shipping vessels, fell 12 points, or 1.32 percent, to 900 points - its lowest since March 1. The capesize index fell 27 points, or 1.7 percent, to 1,564 points.

Rolls-Royce Launches V-Line Variant of B33:45 Engine
Rolls-Royce has launched a V-Line version of its highly successful B33:45 engine series. At 600 kW per cylinder the new design delivers 20 percent more power than the B32:40, in a compact design allowing more power in the same footprint as its predecessor, the manufacturer said. The new V12 is the first variant in the new V-series, where a V16 and a V20 will follow, to address a bigger portion of the marine and land market.
Framo Delivers Pumping Systems to Höegh LNG
Framo has signed a contract with Höegh LNG for the delivery of pumping systems to their new Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU). The contract is for one unit, with option for three more units which are currently being built at Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea. FSRU is a floating processing and terminal facility used when it is not profitable, or for other reasons not practical, to develop onshore terminals.
